The only way to determine if microfilm meets archival requirements is to perform the Methylene Blue Test (MBT) for residual thiosulfate ion. MSTC provides you the most cost effective and convenient testing service.
The American National Standards Institute Standard IT9.1 requires that archival microfilm - Life Expectancy greater than 500 years - not to contain a greater concentration of thiosulfate ion than 0.014 g/m2. Each Methylene Blue Test is performed according to ANSI Standard PH4.8. We will send you a CERTIFICATE OF FINDINGS for your records and your customers' satisfaction. MSTC is always available to answer your questions. If a high thiosulfate ion level is found, we will telephone you so that corrections can be taken immediately. Over 18,000 MBT tests performed! All tests are supervised by a Photographic Scientist.E-mail: MSTC1@aol.com
