Preservation Microfilm and Microfiche Inspection

MSTC will, as an independent, technically qualified organization, inspect and provide quality assurance support to our clients for microfilm reels and microfiche that have been produced in-house, by contractors or purchased.   MSTC will verify technical quality, ensure the legibility of each reel or microfiche, and verify that publications are complete and in proper order. To support this objective, MSTC will inspect and record on inspection forms information related to technical quality bibliographic completeness, and physical condition of the roll microfilm or microfiche.

MSTC is a nationally recognized authority on microfilm quality control and has regularly provided services in  microfilm quality assurance, archival testing and inspection of microfilm. Since 1978 MSTC has completed over 1,500 projects in the information and image management field.  MSTC employs highly qualified individuals, providing specialized micrographic and image quality control services.

Inspection programs will be under the direct supervision of Michael Thomas, President of MSTC.  Mr. Thomas is also a Photographic Scientist with over 30 years of experience in microfilm quality control.  All required corporate and technical resources will be made available to each inspection program, in a timely and efficient manner, throughout the contract.  MSTC has the highest commitment to providing our clients with complete and accurate services, meeting all contract and schedule requirements.  

MSTC will use its own facilities, equipment, materials, personnel and transportation.  This will include special containers for transporting the microfilm between the client and MSTC’s facility.  A customized Transportation Plan can be provided upon request. MSTC will use microscopes, calibrated densitometers, roll microfilm viewer/printers, and related equipment to assist in quality review and verification processes.  A detailed Inspection Plan can be provided upon request.
